Statutory committees in an educational institution are necessary for ensuring efficiency, transparency, and compliance with regulations, fostering a supportive and structured learning environment. The purpose of these committees includes regulatory compliance, equal opportunities and inclusivity, quality assurance, academic excellence, student’s welfare, ensuring discipline besides ethical and overall accountability. LIBRARY COMMITTEE

 

The library committee plays an important role in meeting the academic and research needs of the students and faculty of the institution by ensuring a rich collection of reference books, textbooks, research journals which are easily accessible and well-organized. The key roles of the committee is to assist with (a) collection development, (b) budget allocation, (c) formulating library rules and functioning, (d) digital and technological integration and (e) enhancing user experience and accessibility. NEP IMPLEMENTATION CELL

 

NEP implementation cell is responsible for the successful and smooth adoption of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 guidelines within the institution. It plays an important role in the smooth transition of the academic framework in alignment with the multidisciplinary, flexible, skill based globally competitive education. The cell has been tasked with creating awareness and help both faculties and students understand the guidelines and goals of NEP 2020. The cell comprises of the following members:

ANTI-RAGGING MONITORING CELL

To provide a safe and respectful academic environment, the Anti-Ragging Cell of the institute ensures a ragging-free environment, protecting student’s dignity, rights and mental well-being while complying with the UGC and Supreme Court of India directives.

 

Primary functions of this cell are; (a) Ensure student safety and well-being, (b) Legal compliance and institutional safety, (c) Preventing ragging through awareness and monitoring, (d) Fast redressal and disciplinary action and (e) Psychological and emotional support.

ADMISSION CELL / GUJARAT COMMON ADMISSION SERVICES CELL (GCAS)

 

To ensure transparency, efficiency and academic integrity, the college has constituted an admission committee for UG and PG programmes. This committee helps in; (a) Ensuring a fair and transparent admission, (b) Streamlining the admission process, (c) Maintaining the academic standards, (d) Providing guidance to the applicants, (e) ensure compliance with the regulations, (f) Managing special categories and quotas, (g) handling grievances and appeals and                              (h) promoting institutional reputation.

 

From the academic year 2023-24, the admission to various UG and PG programmes has been channelized through the GCAS (Gujarat Common Admission Services) portal. It is a unified portal launched by the education department of the Government of Gujarat to streamline the admission process for UG, PG and Ph.D. programmes across various disciplines in the state’s universities and affiliated colleges. The key features of GCAS includes a unified platform, simplified application process, digital document submission and real-time notification. This system is cost-effective and time saving for all students other than ensuring a fair and merit based allocation of seats, enhancing trust in the admission process of the institution.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT CELL (SHC)

 

The sexual harassment cell is established in accordance with the Sexual Harassment of women at workplace ( prevention, prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013 to ensure safe and inclusive environment in the institution.

 

1.     Objectives:

i.                 Prevention of sexual harassment in the institution.

ii.               To address complaints and grievances related to sexual harassment.

iii.             To create awareness and conduct sensitization programmes.

iv.             Ensure a free and fair Redressal mechanism.

3.     Scope:

The standard operating procedure (SOP) applies to all students, faculty, staff and visitors within the institution’s premises including online interactions.

 

4.     Definition of sexual harassment:

Sexual harassment includes, but is not limited to the following:

i.                 Unwelcome physical contact and advances.

ii.               Demand for sexual favours.

iii.             Sexually coloured remarks.

iv.             Display of inappropriate content.

v.               Any other unwelcome conduct of sexual nature including sexually coloured messages.

 

5.     Complaint Redressal Mechanism:

The Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) will be as follows:

5.1  Filing a complaint:

a.      A victim or witness may file a written complaint to the SHC via physical submission or email.

b.     The complaint should include details of the incident, evidence (if any) and witness information (if any).

c.      Anonymous complaints may be accepted, but action will be based on available evidence.

 

5.2  Preliminary inquiry:

a.      SHC will conduct an initial review within 3 working days to determine if the complaint falls under the preview of sexual harassment.

b.     If valid, a formal inquiry will be initiated.

 

5.3  Investigation process:

a.      A notice will be sent to the accused, seeking a response within 7 days.

b.     Confidential hearing will be conducted with both the parties.

c.      Witness may be called testimony.

d.     The inquiry should be completed within 30 days from the date of submission of complaint.

 

5.4  Recommendations and actions:

a.      If found guilty, disciplinary actions may include;

·       Written warning.

·       Suspension or termination (for staff).

·       Expulsion or suspension (for students).

·       Legal action as per applicable laws.

b.     If not found guilty, the complaint will be dismissed with justification.

 

5.5  Confidentiality and protection:

a.      The identity of the complainant, accused and witness will be kept confidential.

b.     Retaliation against complainants or witness is strictly prohibited.

 

5.6  Awareness and training:

a.      Conducting workshops and seminars on sexual harassment policies.

b.     Displaying the sexual harassment policies on institution’s notice board and website.

 

5.7  Reporting and documentation:

a.      The SHC will maintain records of complaints and actions taken.

b.     An annual report will be submitted to the institution’s administration.

 

5.8  Review and updates:

The SOP will be reviewed annually and updated as per legal requirements and institutional needs.
