Admission to B.Sc. Semester – I

The admission policy of B. P. Baria Science Institute, Navsari, for all students admitted to B.Sc programs in the institution are as follows:

The UG Programme
B. P. Baria Science Institute, Navsari, affiliated with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) Surat, offers a diverse range of academic programmes at the undergraduate (UG), level with syllabi prescribed by VNSGU. At the UG level, the institute provides B.Sc. and B.Sc. (Hon.) programmes, equipping students with a strong foundation in scientific disciplines.

Duration of the Programme’s

  • The B.Sc. programme offered at the institution in the subject of Chemistry, Physics, Microbiology, Zoology and Mathematics extends over a period of three years comprising of six semesters.
  • The B.Sc. (Hons.) programme extends over a period of four years comprising of eight semesters.
  • Each academic year has 2 semesters of generally 15 weeks each, with minimum of 90 teaching days per semester.
  • 1st Term: June – November.
  • 2nd Term: December – April.

All the UG programmes offered have a curriculum comprising of both theory and practical’s / project work/ field work. The students have the flexibility to select both a major subject and a minor subject allowing them to tailor their education according to their interest and career goals. In addition, skill and personality development courses such as Multidisciplinary Courses (MDC), Indian Knowledge System (IKS), Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) along with extension activities like NSS and NCC are offered as per NEP-2020.
The medium of instruction and examinations shall be in English and Gujarati at the UG level.

Admission Eligibility:
B.Sc. (Chemistry/Physics/Mathematics/Microbiology/Zoology):
Candidate who has passed 02 years Higher Secondary Certificate (10+2) examination with Science subjects in respective streams of Gujarat State or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with a good academic record, shall be eligible for admission, subject to such other conditions prescribed by State Government from time to time. All admissions are provisional and subject to the approval of Principal.

Application Process:

  • The process of admission generally starts from the month of April-May.
  • Candidates for admission should submit the online registration form through online registration link www.gcas.gujgov.edu.in and submit the required information. After submitting all registration details, candidates will get user name and password in their Email id.
  • Candidates have to select streams/courses and college by login through the provided credentials. After final submission of application form and registration fee payment, the application form will be sent to the college opted by the candidate.
  • Admission will be considered provisional till they are approved by the Principal.
  • Admissions can be considered to be granted only when the full fees for the semester are paid, an official receipt has been issued and the name of the applicant appears on the relevant rolls. 
  • All admissions of undergraduates are valid as per norms for the full duration of the programs. However, he/she is required to register at the beginning of every academic year.
     

Selection:

  • Admissions to the various programmes are done on the basis of merit as declared by the University / College and displayed on the college website and college notice board.
  • The prevailing Reservation Policy as specified by the Government of Gujarat is strictly followed.

 

All admissions will be subject to the verification by Principal.

Additional Information for students enrolling in B.Sc. programme
Flexible learning is important to choose one’s academic pathway leading to the award of Certificate, Diploma and Degree. The multiple entry and exit options given in NEP 2020 has removed the rigid boundaries in the academic programmes offered by the institution and has created new possibilities for students to choose and learn subjects of their choice. With the implementation of NEP by the college, the students now have the following options:

  • After completing one year and securing 44 credits, he/she will be able to exit the course provided he/she secures 4 additional credits in work based Vocational Skill Course (VSC) or internship or apprenticeship thereby getting a UG certificate for the same.
  • After completion of two years in the same discipline, the student after securing 88 credits qualifies to get a UG Diploma if he/she earns 4 more additional credits by passing VSC or internship or apprenticeship.
  • Similarly, for a student who has completed 3 years in a discipline and does not wish to go ahead with a honors degree will get a graduation degree provided he/she earns 4 credits through internship training or apprenticeship.
